Fairbanks Football Information & Weather Policy

Season Dates:

  • Start: Early July

  • End: Late September or early October

Weather Expectations:

  • Temps range from +80°F to -30°F

  • Rarely cancelled for weather

  • Be prepared for rapid changes


Player Prep Tips:

  • Rainy: Expect to get wet → bring dry clothes for after

  • Hot: Light t-shirt under pads + extra water

  • Cold:

    • Long underwear under pants

    • Sweatshirt under pads (pocketed = hand warmer)

    • Hooded sweatshirts okay if hood is tucked inside pads


Spectator Tips:

  • Outdoor viewing for up to 2 hours

  • Most fields have no bleachers → bring a camp chair

  • Dress for weather and stay comfortable


Lightning Policy (NFHS Guidelines):

  • Suspend event if lightning is seen

  • Resume only after 30 min with no additional lightning

  • Timer resets with each new sighting

  • Makeups attempted but not guaranteed


Air Quality Policy (due to wildfires):

Refer to FNSB Air Quality Site for PPM readings.

Game and Practice locations

All regular season games will be played at North Pole Middle School field.
The Jamboree and Playoffs will be held at the South Davis Park Turf Fields.

Midnight Riders practice field is at South Davis Soccer Fields.
Spartans practice field is at Randy Smith Middle School
Renegades practice field is at North Pole High School
Bulldogs practive field is at
Ticasuk Brown Elementary School
